I love our slow internet

I’m not sure exactly when it was, but a few months ago (ish), Ian and I realized that we live a “go, go, go” lifestyle. We are always running between cooking, cleaning, taking care of Avery, working, ATTEMPTING to hang out with friends and family, and everything else that life throws our way, and we just never had a chance to enjoy the joys of life.

I think I’m a little better about this than he is. I take the time to smell the roses. But, I have to be intentional about it, or else time gets away from me, and the day is gone. It also helps that I try to spend most of my day (minus my work time) with Avery, outside 🙂

We have been in our new house for just under a week now, and one of the things that I love the most about it is our slow internet.

You’re probably thinking WHAT?!

I know it’s weird because it’s not exactly “trendy” to have slow internet. But, having slow internet nudges you away from the computer and TV, and it allows you to actually enjoy the peace and quiet (minus the chickens and roosters and ducks and other animals, of course) and the spaciousness of your property.

Now, it may be a different story if we were running into issues working with our slow internet (because realistically, we have to make money, and the internet is how we work from home), but so far, it hasn’t been an issue. The only time it has been an issue is when we are trying to stream movies…and I’ll take it!

Do you understand now? If not, you maybe need to re-evaluate your life…and if you don’t get it now, you will eventually.

Life is more than just TVs and computers and tablets and social media. We are so caught up in the hustle mentality of always needing to be SO available and so ready to hop on a computer or phone to work at any moment of the day, but slowing down is where it’s at. Slowing down and truly enjoying life in the moment is what we all NEED.

If you don’t get it, let me know when you do, because I promise that one day, you will feel like you need a break from life. And when that day comes, start slowing down, and it will be just what you need.

So yes, I’m thankful for this new house and for our slow internet because it is causing us to slow down more, live in the moment, and truly enjoy the smell of the roses with our little family.

More on the house later – I’m busy looking at our land, deciding where I want to put our garden and chickens while listening to the birds sing, a boat in the distance, and a rooster trying to wake everyone up, even though it is 10:47 am. 🙂
